PPG Industries’ coil and extrusion coatings group will exhibit the full lines of Duranar and Coraflon coatings at CONSTRUCT 2013, Sept. 24-27, at Music City Center in Nashville, TN. Coil coatings on display will include Duranar ULTRA-COOLand Duranar Vari-Cool fluoropolymer coatings, which are formulated with infrared (IR)-reflective pigments to deflect solar heat from buildings to reduce cooling loads and increase occupant comfort. Duranar VARI-Cool coatings feature pearlescent, polychromatic pigments that shift color depending on the angle from which they are viewed, ambient lighting levels and other factors. Because of their ability to deflect heat, Duranar Ultra-Cool and Duranar Vari-Cool coatings are available in more than 250 dark, medium and light colors registered with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). Most colors also comply with the Energy Star reflectance limits for steep- or low-slope roofing products. For extruded metal building components, PPG will highlight Duranar liquid, Duranar powder and Coraflon powder coatings. Duranar liquid coatings are available in a vibrant palette of metallic and mica formulations that apply smoothly to architectural metals. One of the industry’s most specified products, Duranar liquid coatings have protected and beautified buildings around the world for nearly 50 years. Duranar powder coatings are based on the same proven formulation as Duranar liquid coatings but are in solvent-free, ultra-low-volatile organic compound (VOC) formulations that meet low-emittance standards established by LEED and other sustainable building programs. In addition to broad color selection, Duranar powder coatings provide hard, abrasion-resistant, two-coat finishes that are ideal for seacoast environments and other difficult applications. Coraflon powder coatings are based on a high-performance fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) resin system that has delivered superior performance in liquid architectural coatings for more than 30 years. They are available in a wide range of metallic colors and bright glosses and provide excellent surface hardness and mar and abrasion resistance in solvent-free, one-coat formulations that emit virtually no VOCs. All Duranar and Coraflon coatings meet American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2605 specifications.
